Dasa Project
Welcome to the DASA Project, a place where innovation and excellence meet to shape a better future!
What is the DASA Project?
The DASA Project is an underground uranium mine under development in the Republic of Niger, operated by SOMIDA. The project includes construction of an on-site processing plant designed to process 1,000 tonnes of ore per day.
Benefits of the Project
The DASA Project is expected to create numerous direct and indirect jobs, contribute significant tax revenues for Niger, and stimulate economic growth at various levels.
Current status of the DASA Project
Underground development has been underway since the Opening Blast Ceremony in November 2022. Access has been opened to the first four levels adjacent to the footwall of the orebody. The plan is to open five levels to initially feed the process plant.
On surface, plant-site terraces have been released to the civils contractor, mill structures and buildings are under civil works. Many majors process plant components have been delivered to site, others on their way on sea and roads, others nearing manufacturing completion, final engineering and procurement are ongoing.
For accommodation, a new 260-beds person housing facility has been completed.
Environmental, Social, and Governance
The Dasa Project, having completed a thorough environmental and social impact study, received an Environmental Compliance Certificate and follows a robust Management Plan since 2022. Adhering to international standards, this plan showcases SOMIDA’s commitment to sustainable development and local community engagement, with a focus on using local labor and suppliers and closely monitoring environmental conditions throughout the project’s lifespan.

History
Société Minière de DASA SA (SOMIDA), is a partnership between the Republic of Niger and Global Atomic Corporation*. The company was established on August 11, 2022, in advance of the launch of the underground mine development at the DASA uranium deposit. The official start of this development was marked by an Opening Blast Ceremony on November 5, 2022.
Location
The DASA Project is situated in the heart of Niger’s Agadez region, an area with a five-decade history of successful uranium mining. Nestled between the mining hubs of Arlit and Agadez, the Project benefits from its strategic position. It is just 40 kilometers north of Tchirozérine and a mere 5 kilometers east of the RN-25 highway, adjacent to Tagaza village (see attached map).
Geology
The Dasa deposit in the western Aïr region, characterized by discordant graben-type structures from the Cambrian to the Cretaceous periods, boasts high uranium levels. The deposit lies within a depth range of 80 to 600 meters. See Exploration page for more.
Operating Life
The 2024 Feasibility Study outlines expected production of 68.1 million pounds of U₃O₈ over a 24-year mine plan. In addition, the 2023 Mineral Resources Estimate (MRE) identified 51.4 million pounds of U₃O₈ in Inferred Resources, representing potential future upside that could materially extend the mine life, subject to infill drilling, conversion, and economic evaluation.
Structure
SOMIDA Company is efficiently structured, operating from two primary locations: Niamey and the DASA mine site.
